Patience is a conquering virtue

We appreciate your patience! Throughout the project, we have tried to keep everyone in the loop by documenting our entire process and providing regular updates. It has proven to be challenging at times; sharing every detail takes time, and some things are less exciting to show, like the monotony of proofreading.

This project has been an enormous undertaking, and while we've been working hard to ensure The Forest City Cookbook is printed without delay, a few details have considerably extended our timeline. The decision to include 30 more chefs and 200 pages to the book was made without much anticipation. We felt our original numbers didn't fully represent the talent we have in town. Granted, even at this point, there are members of the culinary and agricultural community we think should probably be included... we simply couldn't keep adding.

On a brighter note, we have received the test pages and content proof. And after much hard work, countless editing hours and plenty of sacrifices made to get this book done, we are happy to announce that we already submitted the last corrections and approved the print order. We estimate to get the books on July 31, and we are CRAZY EXCITED about bringing them to you!

Our crowd-funding campaign and the chance to pre-order individual copies closed on April 20 with a total of 2000 copies pre-ordered! Some local businesses have come forward as "partners" and will be selling limited copies at their establishments if you missed the presale.

This book is for those who believed!! The group of kind people who didn't need to have proof or see it first before taking action and jumping in to help... We need more people like you in the world, willing to help before asking questions, being there for others without wondering why! Thank you!

What's next?

-Individual hardcover copies: we'd like to clarify that they didn't include delivery fees. We could not calculate shipping costs at the start of the project because we couldn't anticipate the book's size. We are coordinating a pick-up event tentatively for August 12.

-Forest Experience package: the apron made by Wove and Grain, cutting board made by Project Carve, branded tote bag and hardcover copy of the book will be delivered between August 1-10. A form to confirm your address will be sent shortly.

-Forest Guardian package: the signed copy of the book plus dinner for six will be brought to your home by Chef Chad Stewart from Field to Fork Catering. We will reach out shortly to coordinate the menu and date.

-E-books: we'll send you the link to download the book simultaneously as we deliver the hardcover books, so everyone will get access to their books at the same time.

-Extra copies: for those who missed the presale, some books will be available at our partners' establishments starting September.

Special thanks to all the partners that helped make this project happen!
